THE COVENANT

Offering & Remuneration

We offer respectful remuneration for narratives that weave true dread:

$0.08 per word

Payment via preferred method within 60 days of publication. Selected authors receive two complimentary archival copies bound in midnight cloth.

Narrative Parameters

Word Count: 1,500 – 7,500 words (firm boundaries)
Genre: All horror subgenres: cosmic, psychological, folk, gothic, body, quiet horror, and the nameless in-between
Originality: Unpublished original works only (no echoes from other volumes)
Format: .doc, .docx, or .rtf format, 1.5 spaced, 12pt legible typeface
Language: English only. Let the prose be sharp enough to draw blood.

Themes That Whisper: While all quality horror is welcome, we listen intently for stories of “Forgotten Oaths,” “The Price of Remembering,” “Hungry Architecture,” and “What the Silence Contains.”

Temporal Window

Submissions are received from January 13, 2026 until March 31, 2026.

Final whispers accepted until: March 31, 2026, 23:59 GMT

Echo Return Time

We aim to send a response within 24 hrs. If you hear only silence after 7 days, your query may stir a reply.

Note on Echoes: Simultaneous submissions to other listeners are permitted, but you must notify us immediately if your story finds a home elsewhere. Multiple submissions from the same voice are not permitted (one different story per genre, per author may be allowed).

THE BINDING

Rights & Echo

Authors retain the true name and soul of their work. By whispering your story here, you grant us first worldwide anthology rights in English for print and digital formats, and non-exclusive archival rights to keep the Tome in print, as detailed in our Terms & Conditions.

All other rights remain with the author. You may rebind your story in other collections 9 months after this volume sees the moonlight.

Author’s Grant

By inscribing your story, you grant us:

First Anthology Rights: The right to publish your story for the first time in this curated collection
Non-exclusive Archival Rights: The right to keep the anthology available in perpetuity
Promotional Rights: The right to use excerpts (up to 10% of the story) to call other listeners

You retain: All other rights, including adaptation, translation, audio, and the right to republish the story elsewhere after the 9-month exclusivity period.

Payment calculated on final edited word count
Payment processed within 60 days of the volume’s release
One complimentary archival copies for selected authors
Additional copies available up to 40% discount dependent on contractual terms

Author’s Oath

By submitting, you swear that:

You are the original author and rightful claimant of the work
The work is original and has not been previously published
The work infringes upon no other’s claim or copyright
The work contains no unlawful incantations

Editing & Attribution

We reserve the right to perform minor scribal corrections for grammar and punctuation. Substantive edits will be discussed with the author. Authors will be credited by their chosen name in the volume and all whispers about it.

Essential: Attach your story file in .doc, .docx, or .rtf format. Ensure your manuscript follows the parameters: 1.5 spacing, 12pt font. PDFs will be ignored by the archive.
